Step inside the home of Harry Mulisch — author of The Assault and The Discovery of Heaven — and discover the world that inspired his extraordinary novels.
Harry Mulisch (1927–2010) was one of the greatest Dutch novelists of the 20th century, best known internationally for The Assault (1982) and The Discovery of Heaven (1992). His home on the Apollolaan in Amsterdam South has been preserved as a museum and archive, offering a rare glimpse into the life and working environment of a major literary figure. On Museum Night, the museum presents a special programme exploring Mulisch's relationship with Amsterdam — a city that appears in almost all of his novels. Actors perform excerpts from his work in the rooms where he wrote them, while literary scholars discuss his legacy and influence on Dutch literature.
